Obituary: Phillip Wayne Douglas Sr (September 1, 1943 - May 24, 2011)

Phillip Wayne Douglas Sr (September 1, 1943 - May 24, 2011)Phillip Wayne Douglas Sr (September 1, 1943 - May 24, 2011)Mr. Phillip Wayne Douglas, Sr., 67, of Lakeview, North Carolina died peacefully on May 24, 2011, at his home.

A funeral service was held at Cox Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial followed at Yates-Thaggard Cemetery.

Mr. Douglas was born in Winnsboro, South Carolina and worked as a supervisor at Pride Trimble and was the husband of Mary Garner for 29 years. He was a kind and loving man and he will be greatly missed. He is the son of Mildred Lynn Bell of Homosassa, Fl., and the Late James Pryor Douglas, Sr.

Evelyn's maiden name is Evelyn Carolle Douglas, and her father was Harold Eugene Douglas and mother Mary Lee Bell.

Harold Eugene Douglas, Jr. passes

This note from Evelyn Long today:

Harold Jr died this morning at about 8:30. The visitation will be on Monday from 6 - 8.........at Gordon Memorial Methodist Church.

The funeral will be on Tuesday at 4:00 at Gordon Memorial Methodist Church in Winnsboro, SC. Burial will be on Oct. 6 at the First Baptist Church cemetery.

Harold Jr. was born on March 12, 1922.

Tommy, Leslie, Wallace&Jean, Mary Ann and I were with him most of the day yesterday. His granddaughter, Kim, was there all day.

Evelyn Long's maiden name is Evelyn Carolle Douglas, sister of Harold Eugene Douglas Jr.

The video below (1 min. 31 sec.) is excerpted from those 3-minute home films produced on 8mm film. Yes, that's right -- the days before video. These scenes were shot during the period of 1959-1961 in Hawaii.

The Douglas Boys are the sons of the late James Pryor Douglas, Sr. of Lake Okeechobee, Florida. Featured are Jimmy, Phillip, Ralph and Robby Douglas. The boys are also the grandsons of Charles Ralph Bell, who was the Superintendent of Construction of the Wake Forest College Library in 1953. Their mother is Mildred Lynn Bell, now married to William L. Taylor.
